“This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”
Isaiah 49:9 “I will say to the prisoners, ‘Come out in freedom,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Come into the light.’ They will be my sheep, grazing in green pastures and on hills that were previously bare.”
The process took several weeks to complete:
Materials used:
Cotton Stretched Canvas
Utrecht Artists’ Acrylic Gesso
Liquitex Acrylic Paint for “blocking/underpainting”
Gamblin Artist’s Oil Paints
M. Graham Walnut Alkyd Medium and Oil
Gamblin Gamvar Gloss Varnish
The oil paint is made of natural pigments. How it appears changes with lighting in the room, it’s tone (warm, neutral or cool), and whether the light source is natural or artificial. In the main photos I have made an effort to make it look neutral, removed the reflections and the smallest spects of dust.
This is how it looks without this effort, in a darker room with a natural light coming from the window on the left:
